Chesapeake is a diversified utility company engaged directly or through subsidiaries in natural gas distribution, transmission and marketing, propane distribution and wholesale marketing, advanced information services and other related businesses. Chesapeake is a Delaware corporation that was formed in 1947. Chesapeakes three natural gas distribution divisions serve approximately 54,800 residential, commercial and industrial customers in central and southern Delaware, Marylands Eastern Shore and parts of Florida. The Companys natural gas transmission subsidiary, Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company (Eastern Shore or ESNG), operates a 331-mile interstate pipeline system that transports gas from various points in Pennsylvania to the Companys Delaware and Maryland distribution divisions, as well as to other utilities and industrial customers in southern Pennsylvania, Delaware and on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
